e hope the New Year brings with it strong sales for your company.
This month we look at management and marketing
trends as well as the latest information on books, candles and
scented merchandise and Mother’s Day.
And our cover story this month, “Country Roads — Country Stores Bring
Home the Past” takes a look at how stores in New Hampshire, Arkansas,
North Carolina, Kentucky and Missouri bring a sense of history to tourists
and locals alike.
The Management section has stories on leadership and job seeking and men’s
shopping and general online trends. In the Candles and Scented Merchandise
Section, we illuminate the hottest trends, offer scented candle and fragrance facts
to share with your customers and candle market data. The section also includes
candle terminology from the National Candle Association, a glossary of scent
and smell-related words from The Olfactory Institute, a story on adding scents to
your bridal market merchandise mix and aromatherapy trends and products.
In our Mother’s Day section are the stories “Mother’s Day: May 8. Make it a
Money-Making Event” and “Mother’s Day Fast Facts.” And in our special section
on books are the stories “Book Market Expected to Reach $44 Billion!,”
“When are Books Bought?,” “Multimedia Centers Add Big Bucks to
Bookstores,” “Book Marketing Expert Says Stick to the 2 Percent Solution”
and “Book Shows are Bound for Spring and Summer.” The section also contains
stories on Gospel Music Week in Nashville, fast facts about the
Christian music industry, a piece on the Christian card market and the story
“Catholic Marketing Network Marks 10th Anniversary.” In the Marketing
Section are stories on how heavy radio and television users are also Internet
visitors and buyers, the success of telephone marketing and the story “April 27
is Administrative Professionals (Secretary’s) Day.” And in the Stationery
Section is the story “Don’t Count on Card Sales, But Other Paper Products
Should Bring Success.” Card sales are down but the stationery and paper
hobby and crafting products area is healthy, the piece explains.
We also offer our regular sections such as the trade show calendar and showcase
product introductions. And our editor, Tony DeMasi, in his editorial
this month takes a look at trends for 2005. Although consumers are feeling
confidant and secure in the outcome of the presidential election, they are
also very price conscious, Tony explains.
We hope you enjoy the issue. Please e-mail us at the address below with your
