A Remembrance: Ray Stokes Will Be Missed

Ray at his desk.
Ray at his desk.

or the past 25 years, Ray Stokes has graced customers and fellow vendors with his British charm. His suntanned face and brilliant smile were fixtures at trade shows from coast to coast. All who know him felt their hearts ache when they heard the news of Ray’s fatal heart attack on Feb. 14, 2005.

Ray was only 66 years old and in the prime of his life. Excited to share every day with his new wife, Beverly, and his pride and joy son, Alec, he spoke with a wide grin about his new life in Southern California as you would expect of a newlywed and proud father. He was as happy as many of us have ever seen him.

Besides his family, and of course soccer, which Ray had played professionally back in England, his passion was his work. He loved working with sales reps and watching their success selling product, which in most cases, he helped develop. He loved the interaction with other vendors and most of all he loved working with his customers.

Ray’s unique ability to make everyone feel like his best friend will be missed by all. Despite a heavy heart, please remember Ray with a laugh and a smile
