George Little Management, LLC
eginning in November 2005, EX•TRACTS®
will be collocated with the International
Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show®, and reenergized
by targeting the ever-growing spa and travel
industries, according to a press statement from
GLM. In line with this change, the fall 2005 edition
will introduce new “essentials for spa, home and travel”
tagline and format, with three full days of exhibits
preceded by a full-day conference at New York City’s
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
“Spas and spa products are center stage in the personal
care boom and the resort/travel resurgence.
The juxtaposition of these two shows will capitalize
on the trend, and drive business for both hospitality
and wellness market participants,” said Rita Malek,
EX·TRACTS show manager, in the statement. “We
are confident about the synergistic potential of this
collocation, and look forward to taking the fall edition
of EX·TRACTS in a new and exciting direction.”
An influx of new companies and the debut of new
awards for product excellence, drove retail traffic to
the GLM Temporaries at the Dallas International
Gift and Home Accessories Market, Jan. 14-17, 2005,
at the Dallas Market Center, according to a press
statement from GLM.
“We’ve continued to expand synergy between the
GLM Temporaries and the permanent showrooms
through the introduction of new companies and
lines, as well as through activities like the D.I.C.E.
Awards which recognize product excellence,” said
John Erich, show manager, in the statement. “These
activities give retailers additional incentives to shop
Dallas.”
A total of 640 exhibitors showcased products
spanning the gift and home spectrum during the
four-day event. With an influx of 200 companies
new to Dallas – and, in some cases, new to the gift
and home industry overall – the GLM Temporaries
featured a wealth of new resources for retailers. In
addition, the Cash ‘n Carry division in Market
Hall continued its rapid growth with 244 exhibitors
offering a diverse range of products for immediate
delivery.
The new D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovation, Creativity
and Excellence) Awards recognized seven exhibitors
for product excellence. Winners of the first semiannual
D.I.C.E. Awards were: Regina Andrews, At
Home; Deborah Lewis, Fine Design; Marketing
Methods, General Gift; Faithful Gifts, Handmade®;
Alma’s Designs, Just Kidstuff®; Lamp Aire, Mind,
Body and Spirit; and Beehive Jewelry Co., Personal
Style.
