George Little Management, LLC

George Little Management, LLC (GLM®) has announced the premiere of the Mid-Atlantic Cash & Carry Show™ - an annual winter event featuring gifts and decorative accessories available for immediate delivery. The new event – scheduled to launch January 22-25, 2006, at the Dulles Expo and Conference Center in Chantilly, Va. – will enable retailers to instantly restock products, and allow manufacturers to quickly move inventory. As an added benefit, the first edition of the show will run concurrently with the Washington Gift Show®, according to a prepared statement from GLM.

The event, open only to trade representatives, will feature 100 exhibitors within 10,000 square feet of exhibit space, and will attract 6,000 attendees. The show will present a wide variety of products, including general giftware, tabletop and housewares, decorative and personal accessories, apparel, crafts, floral products and jewelry, the statement said.

“Given the positive response from buyers and sellers to our New York Cash and Carry Show, GLM is very excited to bring this type of market to the Mid-Atlantic area,” said Phil Robinson, senior vice president, GLM, in the statement. “The show is well-timed to provide retailers access to inventory following the holiday selling season.”

Louise Seeber has been named show manager, with responsibility for sales, marketing, management and operations of the new event. In addition, Seeber, who joined GLM in 1995, will retain her responsibilities as show manager of the Washington Gift Show and the New York Cash and Carry® Show…Gifts to Go®, according to the statement.

While the show’s first edition will be held concurrently with the Washington Gift Show, which presents 400 exhibitors and 6,000 wholesale buyers, the event’s January 2007 edition will be a standalone event, also at the Dulles center location. In a continuing effort to meet the needs of the home textiles industry, GLM has announced plans to shift the New York Homes Textiles Show® from its current spring and fall timeframe, to a new winter and summer date pattern, coinciding with the New York International Gift Fair® beginning in August 2006. This timing will closely align the show with the Home Fashion Products Association’s recently announced February and August dates for the New York Home Textiles Market Week, providing a cohesive market. In advance of this, the spring New York Home Textiles Show will be held as previously announced, running March 31-April 3, 2006, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, a prepared statement from GLM said.

This shift in timing will reposition the New York Home Textiles Show alongside two GLM-managed events – the New York International Gift Fair, which features 2,800 exhibitors at the Javits Center and the Passenger Ship Terminal Piers, and EX·TRACTS: New discoveries in beauty and wellness, which features 120 exhibitors at the Penn Plaza Pavilion.

“GLM is in the business of creating market solutions. We are confident that the repositioning of the New York Home Textiles Show will optimize the show’s business potential, creating a dynamic trade venue and profitable market for all industry constituents,” said Penny Sikalis, vice president and group show manager, in the statement. “Collocating the New York Home Textiles Show within the broader context of the robust New York gift market is a win-win strategy – immediately responsive to the goals of high-end textile manufacturers/ importers, and benefiting retailers from all classes of trade with expanded resources.”

As the premier market for gifts and decorative accessories in the United States, the New York International Gift Fair presents more than 2,800 exhibitors and attracts some 43,000 attendees from around the world. The Gift Fair features 10 specialized divisions: Accent on Design®, At Home, Floral and Garden Accessories, General Gift, Handmade®, Just Kidstuff®, New and Distinctive Resources, Personal Accessories, Tabletop and Housewares and The Museum Source®.

EX·TRACTS is held concurrently with the winter and summer editions of the New York International Gift Fair, featuring 120 exhibitors at New York City’s Penn Plaza Pavilion. This semiannual show features personal care products including: aromatherapy, bath and body care, beauty accessories, candles, home fragrances, massage oils, music and recordings, natural/organic products, perfumes, potpourri and skincare, the statement said.

The California Gift Show® will expand its resources this winter with the launch of a new, highend Boutique focus area: a unique multi-faceted “Eye on Trend” presentation, which will spotlight teen spending; and a new collocation with SOURCES® LA. These enhancements, combined with the show’s broad selection of products and educational programs, will ensure the superior market experience retailers have come to expect from this West Coast event, according to a press statement from GLM. The California Gift Show will take place Saturday, January 21, through Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The semi-annual California Gift Show will feature more than 5,000 product lines and attract some 31,000 retailers. The show will present 1,700 exhibitors within 10 divisions and two special focus areas: At Home; The Beaders’ Gallery; Boutique; EX·TRACTS®; Fashion Accessories; Gifts, Etc.; Handmade®; Jewlery (Cash and Carry); LA Comtemporary; Resort; Souvenir and Licensing; Stationery and More and World Style.

“The California Gift Show delivers an experience unlike any other gift market. The show’s expanding resources continue to position the event as a diverse, product-rich market for retailers. As an added benefit, the collocation with SOURCES® LA will add dimension and greater international sourcing opportunities for volume buyers, importers and manufacturers,” said Aubin Wilson, show director, in the statement.

The new Boutique section is a juried division focus area featuring some 20 designers of high-end apparel, jewelry and accessories. And the Eye on Trend presentation will spotlight teens, a fast-growing and powerful market that represents $5 billion in annual consumer spending, with seminars and a display showcasing hot fashion accessories handpicked at the show by teen girls.

The debut of SOURCES® LA will create a onestop global marketplace on the West Coast, connecting North American-based wholesalers, importers, volume buyers and distributors with non-US manufacturers, according to a press statement from GLM. Some 200 charter exhibitors – representing nearly 25 countries – will showcase gifts, handcrafts, home furnishings, decorative accessories and apparel.

“With the addition of SOURCES LA, the West Coast gift market now represents the complete product cycle – designing, sourcing, manufacturing and selling. The event’s timing and location create an optimal buying and selling environment, and will expose California Gift Show participants to new international sourcing opportunities,” said Colvin English, show director, in the statement.

Mid-Atlantic retailers will get a first-hand look at the gift industry’s latest products and trends at the upcoming Washington Gift Show®. The 113th semi-annual edition will feature 350 exhibitors in five categories – At Home, Floral & Garden Accessories, General Gift, Handmade® and New Resources – January 22-25, 2006, at the Dulles Expo and Conference Center. As an added benefit, the show will be held concurrently with The Mid- Atlantic Cash and Carry Show™, a new event featuring products available for immediate delivery. The two events are expected to attract 6,000 attendees, according to a press statement from GLM.

“The Washington Gift Show continues to provide retailers access to new products, new vendors and new opportunities in a friendly, easy-to-shop and convenient environment. With this year’s collocation with The Mid-Atlantic Cash & Carry Show, retailers will have a unique opportunity to select items that are available for immediate delivery,” said Louise Seeber, show manager, in the statement.
