George Little Management LLC (GLM)

X•TRACTS®: New discoveries in beauty and wellness gained momentum as the personal care industry’s premiere marketplace, Jan. 28-31, 2006, at New York City’s Penn Plaza Pavilion. An impressive increase in attendance, combined with the launch of several innovative product lines, confirmed the show’s strength and position as an important resource for retailers, according to a press statement from GLM.

Nearly 3,000 buyers attended the show, an increase of almost 50 percent from the August 2005 edition. Buyers represented day spas, inns, resorts and mainstream retailers. In addition, the show’s colocation with the New York International Gift Fair® provided an opportunity for increased exhibitor exposure to the multi-billion dollar gift industry, the statement said.

“This edition of EX·TRACTS proved to be the most innovative and cutting-edge to date,” said Rita Malek, show manager, in the statement. “This show is quickly becoming the leading industry event for entrepreneurial companies featuring unique personal care products with creative presentation.”

Also at the show, Best New Product Award winners were announced. The winners were: Best of Show, Hush Fragrances; Bath and Body, Two Square Meters; Natural/Organic, Tezsa International; Beauty Accessory, Sohum Cosmetics; Cosmetic and Fragrance, D.L. and Company; and Packaging, Sohum Products.

The Supply Side® - an annual exposition featuring nearly 80 suppliers to the social stationery, giftware and graphic arts industries – will present a variety of advanced resources for publishers, manufacturers and designers searching for new ways to create, produce, package and finish their products, according to a press statement from GLM.

This unique business-to-business forum will debut new show hours, running Tuesday, May 23, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, May 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Show highlights include a new product category, sheet-fed printers, an educational program sponsored by the Greeting Card Association and a networking reception. The show will take place in Hall D at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the statement said.

As North America’s leading trade show for the social stationery industry, the National Stationery Show® offers an unmatched selection of products and resources that extend well beyond paper, according to a press statement from GLM.

Showcased in five distinctive sections - Celebrate®, Home Work®, Indulgences®, Presents® and Take Note® - the show features the ultimate stationery marketplace in a convention-like atmosphere. Highlights include the launch of The Pen Pavilion, a new fine writing instruments focus area, a Mary Engelbreit presentation, a meeting of the World Alliance of Greeting Card Associations, daily hands-on demonstrations and key industry events, according to the statement.

The 60th edition of the show will run May 21 through May 24 at Level 3 of New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2006 Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2006 will honor winners of the show’s Top Retailer Awards during the market’s annual awards dinner on Friday, March 3 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, according to a press statement from the show.

Sherry Master, general manager and buyer for the Grovewood Gallery in Asheville, N.C., was last year’s Top Out of State Retailer. “Our ongoing relationship with so many Kentucky artists is extremely important to our success at Grovewood Gallery. We are devoted to fine craftsmanship and recognize and admire all that the state of Kentucky does to support its many talented artists,” Master said in the statement.
