AmericasMart
he Atlanta International Gift & Home
Furnishings Market Temporaries will grow
even stronger in January 2007 with the addition
of a new signature category, Coastal Lifestyles
Collection®, and the relocation of Pampered Pets to
a larger and distinctly original new home, according
to a press release from AmericasMart.
The Coastal Lifestyles Collection, in an almost
6,000 square foot area, will feature furniture and
décor with a coastal flair. Housed in AMERICASMART, floor 2 — in the former home of
Pampered Pets - Coastal Lifestyles is conveniently situated
adjacent to High Country Lodge, Distinctly
American and the Gardens.
Also new for January 2007 is the expansion of
Pampered Pets, a burgeoning and increasingly popular
category, which moves from its previous home in
AMERICASMART, floor 2, to its new and larger,
stand-alone home in AMERICASMART ·,
floor 3, the statement said.
A sophisticated new design and moniker sets in
motion Phase I of a makeover, slated for a January
2007 completion, that will transform the look of
AmericasMart’s floors 14 and 15. Newly christened
THE GARDENS® — OUTDOOR
LIFESTYLE & HOME DÉCOR, the center
embraces the product advances and ongoing lifestyle
trend that blurs the lines between products and
home furnishings historically appropriate for outdoors
and those utilized inside.
Dallas Market Center
Dallas Market Center has announced several promotions
in a press release.
Jim Lugannani has been promoted to Vice
President of Trade Shows and will oversee the
F!NDS temporary show in addition to leasing
responsibilities for the International Floral and Gift
Center.
Eileen Lunning has been promoted to Vice
President of Leasing and will oversee the Gift industry
- the largest merchandise sector at Dallas Market
Center.
Mindy Lowack has been promoted to Director of
Leasing with responsibility for the home accent
industry.
Denver Merchandise Mart
The Denver Merchandise Mart will hold its Gift,
Jewelry and Resort Show February 24-27, 2007, with
a pre-show of permanent tenants February 22-23,
according to a press release from the mart. The
show, with over 650 exhibitors representing more
than 6,000 lines, is a destination for lodge, rustic,
western and Native American products.
The show is also a major market for the souvenir
and resort industry and offers a variety of products,
featuring regional lines as well as gourmet, decorative accessories, collectibles, stationery, home furnishings,
jewelry, resort apparel, toys and many traditional
upscale gifts and handicrafts.

For the past 32 years, Surf Expo has been at the forefront
of the board, beach and fashion industries.
The September 2006 show reinforced that by bringing
in the highest retailer attendance ever, with an
increase of 51.2 percent, according to a press release.
In addition, there were a record-breaking 882
exhibitors staffing 2,300 booths representing nearly
5,200 lines. New exhibitors numbered 277.
“What a great show,” said Lori Kisner, show director,
in the release. “In addition to being our highest
attended show ever, this was the best September
show we’ve produced. The events were great, and the
retailer had a great year so the buying on the floor
was strong and our exhibitors left with paper.”
The success of September’s show leads Surf Expo
right into planning the January 2007 installment,
which will be a four-day show, January 11-14.
Eastern Canadian Gift Shows
The fourth annual Tourist, Resort and Imprinted
Products Show (TRIPS) takes place January 26-29,
2007 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre,
South Building, according to a press release.
TRIPS has tens of thousands of products from
which to choose, and buyers appreciate the ease of
sourcing products designed specifically for them.
The show offers a large collection of products specifically
designed for gift shops in historical sites,
provincial parks, galleries and museums, art galleries,
zoos, aquariums and botanical gardens.
Located in the heart of downtown Toronto at the
Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the show allows
buyers to experience the great restaurants and live
theatre for which Toronto is world renowned, the
release said.
George Little Management LLC (GLM)
A wide array of innovative new product lines for the
high-end personal care industry will be unveiled at
EX·TRACTS®: New discoveries in beauty and
wellness, January 28-31, 2006, at New York City’s
Penn Plaza Pavilion, according to a press release
from GLM. More than 60 cutting-edge companies
will be on hand to showcase their latest lines of cosmetics,
beauty accessories, bath and body products,
fragrances and well-being lines.
“We’re excited by the number of companies introducing
new lines and launching unique products at
this edition of EX·TRACTS®,” said Rita Malek,
show manager, in the release. “Buyers sourcing for
their specialty stores, boutiques or gift shops are
assured a dynamic marketplace covering every aspect
of the personal care industry.”
The New York International Gift Fair® has
announced a date pattern
change for the winter 2007
market, according to a press
statement from GLM. All fair
divisions will run Sunday, Jan.
28 through Thursday, Feb. 1,
at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center and Passenger
Ship Terminal Piers 92 and
94. The fair will return it its
customary staggered division
openings and closings for the
summer 2007 market, scheduled
to run August 11-16.
The Supply Side® will
move to the same floor at the
Jacob Javits Center in New
York as the National Stationery
Show® beginning in
2007, according to a press
release from GLM. The new
site will allow easier access for
qualified attendees to enter the
show as well as new purchasing
opportunities. Running May
22-23, The Supply Side is a
business-to-business exposition
with nearly 80 exhibitors.
GLM has extended its use
of outside consultants with
industry-specific expertise and
reoriented its Public Relations
Department.
After 18 years with GLM,
Cathy Steel has formed her
own agency, Steel Associates, a full service marketing, communications and public
relations firm. GLM is contracting with Steel to handle
public relations and marketing consulting for
several of its shows. Also, Beth Dickstein Enterprises
in New York City has been hired to handle public
relations for a GLM show, according to a press
release from GLM.
In a related matter, Cate Salvatore has been promoted
to the position of Public Relations Director
and will lead GLM’s corporate and show specific PR
activities.
Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2007
The Kentucky Craft Marketing Program (KCMP), a
division of the Kentucky Arts Council, will mark the
25th anniversary of Kentucky Crafted: The Market
in 2007. The show will be held March 3-4 in
Louisville at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition
Center, South Wing B, according to a press release
from the show.
This show features over 300 exhibitors of contemporary
and traditional craft, two-dimensional visual
art, books, musical recordings, and “Kentucky
Proud” food products.
“The anniversary celebration gives us a time to
reflect on the market’s many accomplishments over
its 25-year history and those that have been part of
its success,” said Fran Redmon, KCMP Director, in
the release. “It is also a time to recognize the tremendous
asset it has become for our state, one that
enhances Kentucky’s image and is something that
any Kentuckian can be proud to claim as their own.”
L.A. Mart®
L.A. Mart® Design Center’s Director of Marketing
Jeff Sampson has been nominated to receive the Bert
Tonkin Gift of Giving Award at the 15th Annual
Gift for Life Gala. The event will be held Jan. 28,
2007 in New York, according to a press release.
Gift for Life has chosen to recognize Sampson for
his leadership in raising funds and awareness for
Gift for Life on the West Coast. Since 2003, Sampson has produced four Gift for Life benefits as
part of the L.A. Mart’s July Gift & Home
Furnishings Market™.
Market Square
The Market Square order writing and the Cash &
Carry Show will be held entirely at the Valley Forge
Convention Center and the Radisson Ballrooms. It
is an exciting prospect, a match between the many
separate attractions that make Market Square the
not-to-be-missed show it is with a venue that has all
the amenities equal to the event, according to a press
release from Market Square.
There will be 225 businesses at the Cash and
Carry Show beginning Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the
Valley Forge Convention Center on both the main
and lower levels. On Thursday, Feb. 1, the Gallery of
American Craftsmen and Jewelry and Accessories
Market will be located in the Radisson ballrooms and
will be open through Sunday, Feb. 4. On the
Mezzanine level, buyers will have the opportunity to
visit the industry leaders in an intimate showroom
setting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1. The Mezzanine
level will be open through Monday, Feb. 5.
Featuring over 800 businesses, throughout the
main, lower and mezzanine levels of the Valley Forge
Convention Center, The Market Square Order
Writing Show begins Friday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. by
hosting an opening night reception, featuring the
presentation of awards. The show will continue
through Monday, Feb. 5, ending at 2 p.m., the
release said.
New Market Souvenir & Gift Show
The 54th annual New Market Souvenir & Gift
Show will take place January 21, 22, and 23, 2007 at
the Quality Inn in New Market, Va. This is one of
the longest running trade shows in the country and
provides a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for
buyers in the Mid-Atlantic region. New Market is
conveniently located on I-81 in the scenic
Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, making it easily
accessible from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
This year there will be over 45 exhibitors showing
over 200 different product lines, ranging from souvenirs
and apparel to handicrafts, civil war material,
and better gift items. Many of the product lines
have been exhibiting in this show from its inception
in the mid 1950s. There has also been a continuing
rotation of new and unique items added to the show
year after year. This variety of merchandise makes
the show the perfect buying venue for all types of
retail shops such as resort attractions, gift shops,
themed locations, state parks, antique shops, and
others, according to a press release.
At the show, buyers get to meet and work closely
with their individual reps in a casual atmosphere,
while enjoying the benefits of attending a regional
show aimed at their merchandise requirements.
While attending the show, buyers are treated to complimentary
coffee and donuts each morning, a complimentary
lunch each day, and a cocktail party on
Monday evening with an open bar and free hors
d’oeuvres. The show is easy to get to by interstate
highway and the Quality Inn has plenty of rooms for
those who wish to spend multiple days doing their
buying.
The OASIS Gift Show
The OASIS Gift Show is excited to announce that
they are moving to a new venue. January 25 – 27,
2007 will be OASIS’ first show at Cardinals Stadium
in Glendale, Ariz., according to a press release from
the show.
Many new and exciting changes are taking place
at OASIS. There is a new weekday schedule,
Thursday through Saturday, free parking including
oversize vehicles, free hotel shuttle service to the
show site from contracted hotels, and an improved
layout for better visibility and a better shopping
experience. On Thursday, January 25, OASIS will
be hosting the “First Thursday Reception” to promote
and announce their new weekday schedule.
One lucky attendee present at the reception will
walk away with two 2008 Super Bowl tickets and surprise giveaways will be provided along with drawings
for themed gift baskets. OASIS has contracted dates
for Cardinals Stadium through 2011.
Urban Expositions
The largest backyard nature products trade show,
Birdwatch America®, returns to the Georgia
International Convention Center, January 13-14,
2007, bringing the most comprehensive collection
of educational programs and new resources to date
to nature retailers from around the world, according
to a press release. Under the new management of
Urban Expositions, this show will offer expansive
buyer and exhibitor services.
Following its successful relocation to the Miami
Beach Convention Center for the August 2006 edition,
the Miami Beach Gift Show returns to its new
and improved site for the January 4-7, 2007 winter
show. The 2007 edition provides retailers from
throughout South Florida and the islands with the
ideal opportunity to restock after the holidays and
get a jump on product planning for the coming
year.
The Orlando Gift Show returns to the
Orange County Convention Center for the winter
edition, February 3-5, 2007 (North
Concourse- Hall B.) Perfectly timed to help central
Florida retailers restock after the busy holiday
and tourist season, the February show runs
concurrently with the International New Age
Trade Show ® - East (INATS ®- East) and the
Jewelry and Accessories Expo to provide one
comprehensive product resource with tremendous
cross-market buying opportunities, according
to a press release.
The Philadelphia Gift Show will return to the
new Greater Reading Expo Center in Reading,
Pa., for the January 6-9, 2007 edition. Comprised
of more than 1,200 booths showcasing thousands
of lines from national manufacturers and leading
regional sales representatives, the show offers an
expansive product selection in a relaxed hasslefree
environment, according to a press release.
The Handcrafted Section in the January edition
will further expand the show’s offerings providing
retailers with more new resources than ever
before.
Designed to meet the specialized buying needs
of retailers from Eastern North Carolina to
Delaware, the new Virginia Beach Gift Show is
set to debut March 4-6, 2007. Held at the brand
new Virginia Beach Convention Center, the new
annual show will offer retailers a cost-effective
resource for their restocking and new merchandise
needs.
“From its easily accessible location and strong
economy to the new state-of-the-art convention center,
Virginia Beach offers the ideal location for a gift
and resort merchandise show,” said Doug Miller,
president, Urban Expositions, in a press release.

with the industry’s leading national and

to bring the same successful show environment to
Virginia Beach that our customers have come to

The 151st semi-annual Portland Gift & Accessories
Show® will take place January 6-9, 2007. The
Portland market brings fresh manufacturers and
artisans - many of which use this event to launch
their product to the wholesale trade. In addition,
show management has put together after-hours
events and educational programming for buyers,
according to a press release.
The Portland market will include 300 exhibiting
companies, encompassing 48,000 net square feet of
exhibit space at the Oregon Convention Center.
Nearly 5,000 buyers are expected to attend the
show.
The 153rd semi-annual Seattle Gift Show®, the
largest gift, home and lifestyle event in the Pacific
Northwest, will become a part of a special cooperative
effort with the Pacific Market Center and Seattle Market Week. Retailers
attending the market January 27-30,

the Washington State Convention
and Trade Center and the permanent
showrooms of the Pacific

the Washington State Convention and Trade

Gift Fair, according to a press
