ASD/AMD Trade Shows
ielsen Business Media’s Merchandise
Group recently announced the addition of
a new regional merchandise trade show,
ASD/AMD Rosemont, to be held on November 2-
4, 2008 at the Donald E. Stephens Center in
Rosemont, Ill., just outside of Chicago.
ASD/AMD Rosemont was developed to fulfill a
need in the Midwest marketplace by bringing together
merchandise buyers and sellers in the region,
according to a press release from the company.
Rosemont, Ill., is central to the 10-state region
that includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas,
Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio
and Wisconsin, providing for a dynamic merchandise
marketplace. With marketing plans in place for
new buyers and a built-in ASD/AMD buyer base of
7,000 in the region, this will prove to be a dynamic
marketplace for exhibitors, according to the press
release.
The profile of the ASD/AMD Midwest buyer
base shows is: 58 percent owners and executive managers;
and 42 percent, buyers, merchandise managers
or store managers. This group also has a total
average retail sales volume of $630,000 and is within
400 miles.
Forty One Madison
William Yeoward Crystal, a longtime tenant of Forty
One Madison, will design two lobby settings for the
Winter New York Gift Show at the tabletop building,
announced Carole Dixon, senior vice president
director. The settings will be on display Saturday
February 2 through Wednesday February 6.
The Ireland Show
Here come the Celtics! Two hundred manufacturers
from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England will participate
in The Ireland Show. This unique event will
be held April 19-22 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, in
Secaucus N.J. It will feature a plethora of merchandise
including: jewelry, general giftware, apparel,
gourmet, fine art, tableware, leather goods, stationery, music, crystal, religious goods, collectibles,
rugs, and much more.
Exhibitors will include Abbey Press, Avoca
Handweavers, Bewley Irish Imports, Blarney Stone
enterprises, Branigan Weavers, Cathedral Art
Metal, Celtic Fashions, Dara Records, Fado
Jewelry, Fragrances of Ireland, Galway Irish
Crystal, Mullingar Pewter, Philip Gray Fine Art,
Solvar Jewelry, Tipperary Crystal and Wales Tartan
Centre.
Open to the trade only, the show’s hours will be
2 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 9:30 a.m. to 6
p.m. on Sunday and Monday, April 20 and 21, and
9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
Retailer-oriented seminars will be held at 8:30
a.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Complimentary buffet
dinners and concerts will be held on Sunday and
Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.
Unlike any other trade show in the industry, The
Ireland Show rewards retailers for attending. With
every order placed, retailers are given a ticket to win
tens of thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.
Prizes include trips to Ireland and a store of merchandise,
worth over $25,000.

Something very exciting is happening in the Smoky Mountains

You could feel the excitement at the International
Gift Exposition in the Smokies® (IGES) last
November, as buyers, vendors and guests flocked to
help celebrate the inaugural gift exposition in the

brand new and very beautiful Events Center in
Sevierville, Tenn.
Attendance was up 41 percent over last year as
quality gift buyers discovered an exciting and
diverse mix of merchandise.
“Our selection of merchandise gets better every
year,” said Tiffany Tysiak and Heather Hoffman
with IGES. “We are proud to represent some of the
most creative, hard working and talented manufacturers
in the gift industry.”
Compliments were overheard everywhere from
buyers and vendors alike. “Every time I asked a
buyer if they liked the show, we got only rave
reviews,” said Becca Levie of Lip Notes. “If we could
do only one show, it would be yours.”
