George Little Management, LLC
Beginning in 2009, the Canadian Gift & Tableware
Association (CGTA) will expand its endorsement of
GLM® Canadian Gift Shows to include the Alberta
Gift Show, Montreal Gift Show and Vancouver Gift
Show. The CGTA began endorsing the Alberta Gift
Show in 1989 and since then, has been instrumental
in providing wholesaler and retailer support
through a number of initiatives, including educational
programs, business centers and member services.
“By expanding our partnership, we can develop a
more comprehensive and collaborative strategy to
further support and enhance the Canadian wholesale
and retail communities," said CGTA President
Bob Love in a press release.
A customer-centric atmosphere, reformatted
floor plan, eco-friendly initiatives and lively fun
events including the “Flaunt” stage show and LA
Trend Panel, raised the bar at the winter edition of
the California Gift Show®. According to a press
release, many of the event’s 1,200 exhibitors reported
successful business and a positive market, with
some companies reporting their best show ever. The
event was held January 18-21, 2008, at the Los
Angeles Convention Center.
Some 22,000 buyers attended the show. For the
first time, all onsite programs and events were
offered on a complimentary basis to participants.
Sustainability was at the forefront of market offerings,
with the debut of ECO - Earth Conscious
Options™, a category for identifying eco-friendly,
humanitarian and fair trade products.
The relocation and integration of EX•
TRACTS®: New discoveries in beauty and wellness
into the New York International Gift Fair® at New
York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center
resulted in a successful market that received overwhelmingly
positive response from both exhibitors
and attendees. The 23rd semi-annual edition of
EX·TRACTS ran February 2-6, 2008.
At EX•TRACTS®, Danielle and Company was
awarded “Best of Show” in the Best New Product
Awards competition. In the Bath and Body category,
Honeycat Cosmetics won. In the Beauty Accessory category,
Tassi by Whats Hot! Inc. was the winner. In the
Cosmetic and Fragrance category, the winner was Joya
by A Candle in the Wind. In the Natural/Organic category,
European Soaps, Ltd. took first prize.
Additionally, The Balm won in the Packaging category.
A launching pad for innovation and design, the
National Stationery Show will unveil some 300
first-time participants, plus new paper
crafting and green-themed programming,
May 18-21, 2008. The presentation of editor
and retailer-selected Best New Product
Awards will highlight the market. More
than 15,000 retailers and 1,400 exhibitors
are expected to convene at New York
City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center
for the show’s 62nd annual edition.
Dynamic seminars and interactive
demonstrations - including a pre-show webinar
series, paper crafting seminar track,
round table discussions, product trend forecasting
and a two-part Internet strategy program
- will set the stage for comprehensive
professional development opportunities.
Additionally, an “On the Town” event,
opening night party and the 20th annual
International Greeting Card Awards will
extend networking into the evening hours.
GLM has announced that the Summer
2008 edition of the New York International
Gift Fair® will run Saturday,
August 16, through Thursday, August 21,
2008, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits
Convention Center, Metropolitan Pavilion
and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and
94. This reflects a return to the fair’s traditional
Saturday-Thursday date pattern after
a one-time shift during the winter 2008
market.
