Denver Merchandise Mart
he Denver Merchandise Mart will hold its
Gift, Home, Jewelry and Resort Show
February 26-March 3 for permanent showrooms
and February 28-March 3 for temporary
exhibitors. Information about the Denver Show is
available online.
The semi-annual show has over 575 exhibitors - 175
permanent showrooms and 400 temporary exhibitors
- representing more than 5,000 lines, and is a premier
destination in the country for lodge, rustic, western
and Native American products. The Denver show is
also a major market for the souvenir and resort industry
and offers an unsurpassed variety of products, featuring
regional product lines not available at other
major markets as well as gourmet, decorative accessories,
collectibles, stationery, home furnishings, jewelry,
resort apparel, toys and many traditional upscale
gifts and handicrafts.
The show also offers free educational seminars for
buyers and a number of valuable buyer amenities.

For nearly 100 exhibitors in EX·TRACTS®: New
discoveries in beauty and wellness, the first summer
edition following its integration into the New York
International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) at the Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center proved to be a profitable
success. During its five-day run, August 17-21, NYIGF
attracted 36,000 trade attendees including some 6,000
spa, salon and specialty retailers.
EX·TRACTS features a wide variety of personal care
products, including cosmetics, perfumes, skincare, bath
and body care, beauty accessories, hair care, apothecary
gifts, natural and organic products and well-being lines.
Many exhibi tors credited the Javits location for increased
visibility and order writing by serious buyers.
Double-digit expansion of EX· TRACTS at the
New York International Gift Fair will begin in January
2009, with a 30 percent increase in exhibit space
planned at the Javits Center by the end of 2009.
A considerable selection of new merchandise,
strategically categorized among nine product divisions,
lured 36,000 attendees to the summer edition of the
New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) at the
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Participants in the
show’s 155th semi-annual edition included buyers
from all 50 states and more than 75 countries, as well
as over 2,900 exhibitors, 400 of which were first-time
participants in the fair.
Many exhibitors, particularly those who introduced
new, fashion-forward products, reported record order
writing far exceeding earlier summer shows. Others
noted the geographic diversity of attendees, with new
visitors hailing from South America and Asia, in particular.
The winter 2009 edition of the New York
International Gift Fair will run January 25-29, 2009,
at the Javits Center and Passenger Ship Terminal
Piers 90, 92 and 94.
Halloween & Party Expo
The annual meetings for the nation’s largest party buying
groups, Party Club of America and Paper First
Affiliates, will be held in conjunction with the
Halloween & Party Expo in Houston, January 24-27.
Paper First Affiliates will be conducting their annual
meeting prior to the show at the Hilton Americas
Hotel, while Party Club of America will hold their
meeting at the Four Seasons over the same dates.
“Members of the buying groups and vendors had
been expressing a need for an early show so that orders
could be placed earlier in the season,” said Jonathan
Erwin of Halloween & Party Expo. “We created the
Halloween & Party Expo at the George R. Brown
Convention Center in Houston to meet that need.”
In addition to providing a great place for buyers
and exhibitors to do business and write orders, the
expo will also host several special events and seminars
Pacific Market Center
Pacific Market Center, the leading permanent
wholesale market on the west coast, has announced
that Jim Sinegal, co-founder and chief executive officer
of retail giant Costco Wholesale Corporation,
will be part of the speaker line-up at the 2009
Winter Gift & Home Accessories Show. On Friday
January 23, 2009 Sinegal will present the educational
seminar “Inside Costco and the New World of
Retail.”
Urban Expositions
Now managed by Urban Expositions, the Boston
Gift Show returns March 28-31, 2009 to the Boston
Convention & Exhibition Center with a fresh, new
energy, an expanded product selection, as well as a
number of other business-building buyer initiatives
for New England retailers.
Among the new highlights for the show will be an
expanded selection, the Pride of New England
Awards, a goody bag giveaway, free freight Saturday,
parking rebates, free buyer services and amenities
and more.
Set to debut Feb. 7-10, 2009, the new National
Country & Crafts Show will bring the best of the
country industry together to display their latest
introductions on one easy-to-work floor at the new
Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. This tremendous
selection, together with a full roster of free buyer
services and show amenities, promises to attract a
national buying audience ranging from antique,
country and gift shops to furniture, specialty and
other stores.
The show will offer a huge selection of products,
and Cash & Carry will be a key component of the
event. Additionally, Souvenirs, Gifts & Novelties magazine
contributing writer Marilyn Nason will present
the seminar “Is Retailing Success Really Possible
Today? Let’s Count the Ways!”
Returning to the state-of-the-art Virginia Beach
Convention Center from March 1-3, 2009, the third
edition of the Virginia Gift Show promises to meet
the specialized buying needs of retailers from
Eastern North Carolina to Delaware by offering a
cost-effective, convenient resource for their restocking
and new merchandise needs.
Among the highlights for the show include an
unrivaled product selection, goody bag giveaways, a
show party, a convenient location, discounted hotel
rates, free seminars and more.
The 2009 edition of Birdwatch America
returns to the Georgia Inter na tional Convention
Center with a host of new initiatives for the
January 9-10 event. Extended hours, a new date

The Philadelphia Gift
Show returns to the suburban
Philadelphia metro
area this January with a
full roster of buyer services, show highlights and new
product resources. Moving to its new home at the

2009 edition will bring retailers throughout the mid-
Atlantic and Tri-state regions an unrivaled selection of
new product resources and buyer services in a convenient,
cost-effective, casual and relaxed show setting.

The Orlando Gift Show returns to the Orange
County Convention Center (South Concourse -
Hall A) for the winter edition, January 24-26, 2009.
