The National Stationery Show® will shift to a new, earlier time frame on its closing day, running 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009. All other show hours (9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday, May 17 through Tuesday, May 19) remain the same. The new schedule addresses cost efficiencies, affording considerable savings to exhibitors, particularly in the areas of staffing, hotel and travel.

The 63rd annual National St ationery Show will feature 1,100 exhibitors at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The show is expected to attract some 14,000 retailers.

In an effort to expand the product and service offerings of its annual training and trade show, Virginia State Parks will co-locate its event with the March 1-3, 2009 Virginia Gift Show at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The joint effort will give Virginia State Park gift shop managers, concessionaires and other sales associates the time and money saving benefits of attending custom-tailored educational programs, reviewing the latest introductions from approved vendors, and exploring new merchandise highlighted in the Virginia Gift Show’s 400-plus booths, all under one roof.

“To be able to hold our annual training and trade show in conjunction with the Virginia Gift Show will be a great opportunity for the parks,” said Ann Henderson, Enterprise Section Business Manager, Virginia State Parks. “Our in-house trade show is limited to 35 vendors, but combining these offerings with those of the Virginia Gift Show gives Virginia State Parks access to many more vendors.”

“We felt that the Virginia Gift Show’s easily accessible location, state-of-the-art convention facility and product mix offered many mutually beneficial opportunities for our exhibitors and Virginia State Park convention attendees,” explained Tim von Gal, executive vice president, Urban Expositions, owners and producers of the Virginia Gift Show. “The show’s strong souvenir and gift mix, including state and regional products, private label and custom design providers, offers countless new resources for park buyers to explore. We hope this combined event will launch many new business relationships between our exhibitors and Virginia State Park buyers for 2009.”

There are more than 30 parks in the Virginia State Park system. The Virginia State Park attendees will have plenty of time to shop the Virginia Gift Show’s comprehensive product mix from the industry’s leading manufacturers and sales representatives in every product category, including general giftware, tourist merchandise, beach apparel, resort wear, home accents, tabletop, garden gifts and much more. Park participants will also be invited to participate in all other Virginia Gift Show events and promotions, including Goody Bag giveaways, free seminars, the popular Sunday night show party and more.

Urban Expositions Announces Date Change for 2009 Ocean City Resort Gift Expo

In an effort to minimize logistical and scheduling challenges souvenir and resort industry members might face due to the Smoky Mountain Gift Show management team’s recent decision to move the Gatlinburg, Tenn., show off of its traditional date pattern for 2009, Urban Expositions is changing the dates for the 2009 edition of the Ocean City Resort Gift Expo to November 1-3. The Smoky Moun - tain Gift Show change placed that show head on with the Ocean City, Md., show’s well-established date pattern.

The new November 1-3, 2009 Ocean City, Md., dates do not conflict with any other gift and resort shows on the national calendar. In addition, this new timing helps with the shipping and other scheduling needs of exhibiting companies participating in other shows scheduled later in the month. For added convenience, Urban Expositions is providing a caravan freight service for its Ocean City exhibitors who will be participating in the International Gift Exposition in the Smokies, which opens on November 6, 2009 in Sevierville, Tenn.
