SGN SALUTES TOM FULGHUM ON HIS RETIREMENT

he staff at Souvenirs, Gifts & Novelties thanks Tom Fulghum for his support of the magazine and the entire industry. A founding partner of Urban Expositions, Fulghum has announced that he will retire from his fulltime position as executive vice president in January 2009. He will continue in a consultancy role with the Atlanta-based trade show management company after that date.

Fulghum’s trade show company and his insight have played an important role in the ongoing strength and success of souvenir, gift and novelties manufacturers, reps, retailers and the industry itself over the years. We wish him all the best as he enters into a new and exciting phase of his life.

Fulghum and company President Doug Miller, both veteran trade show and mart management executives, founded Urban Expositions in 1995. Tim von Gal, founding member of the Urban Expositions team and executive vice president of marketing, development and information systems, became a company partner in 2000.

In January 1996, Urban Expositions launched the semi-annual Philadelphia Gift Show, which quickly became the largest gift trade show in the mid-Atlantic region. Since then, Urban Expositions has acquired, expanded and launched a number of gift, souvenir and resort shows across the country, including Birdwatch America, Boston Gift Show, Fort Lauderdale Gift Show, Emerald Coast Gift & Resort Show, The Gathering, Galveston Gift & Resort Merchandise Show, Grand Strand Gift & Resort Merchandise Show, Las Vegas Souvenir & Resort Gift Show, Material World & Technology Solutions, National Country & Crafts Show, Ocean City Resort Gift Expo, Orlando Gift Show, Philadelphia Gift Show, and the Virginia Gift Show.
