George Little Management (GLM)
All available exhibit space within EX·TRACTS® is sold
out for the winter 2009 edition of the New York
International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®), Sunday, January
25, through Thursday, January 29, 2009, at New York
City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Since the
show’s integration into NYIGF in February 2008, it has
continued to evolve by coalescing innovative and emerging
personal care resources alongside thousands of complementary
product lines.
In total, nearly 100 companies will exhibit in
EX· TRACTS. Participants offer a wide range of cosmetics,
perfumes, skincare, bath and body care, beauty accessories,
hair care, natural/organic products, apothecary
gifts and well-being lines. EX· TRACTS participants can
enjoy a full slate of educational seminars and after-hours
special events.
Buyers will be introduced to scores of new companies
and new introductions from established brands as
they search for fresh resources at the 156th semi-annual
New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®),
which runs Sunday, January 25, through Thursday,
January 29, 2009, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 90, 92 and
94.
“There are highlights in each of NYIGF’s nine divisions
this winter, offering retailers a wealth of new products
as well as even more cross-category buying opportunities,”
said Dorothy Belshaw, GLM senior vice president
and NYIGF director. “Along with our efforts to refine
product categorization, the new companies and new
resources make it easy - and exciting - to shop both deeply
within vertical categories and horizontally for complementary
lines.”
Additionally, a comprehensive series of educational
sessions covering business issues pertinent to retailers will
be among the highlights of the show.
There is a reason that San Francisco is America’s
favorite city. Unrivaled scenery, unequaled cuisine, and
unparalleled cultural offerings make the City by the Bay
a uniquely important destination to be part of the newly
inaugurated winter edition of the San Francisco
International Gift Fair® February 7 - 10, 2009. In a
nod to its host City, this year’s Gift Fair launches a new
concept in show design by directing buyers through
“neighborhoods” of exhibitors representative of those
districts.
“The exhibitors in each area reflect a buying experience
one might find in that San Francisco neighborhood,”
said San Francisco International Gift Fair Show
Director Aubin Wilson. “The SFIGF has a well-deserved
reputation as the event where buyers come to find new
product lines, to ‘trendspot’ and to build and foster relationships
key to their business. This year, our new look
and concept literally allows exhibitors and buyers to meet
as neighbors.”
San Francisco’s celebrated diversity, its commitment
and leadership as a “green” and environmentally conscious
destination combine with its legendary status as a
fashion-forward, design-driven and tech savvy region to
make this one of the most eagerly anticipated stops on the
annual gift show calendar.
Who says education has to be mind numbing and
dull? At the upcoming California Gift Show®, January
16 – 19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, retailing
is fundamental and the course load is easy on the eyes
and pocketbook. All events and seminars are free for
show attendees.
“Where else can doing business be so educational,”
said Angelia Singleton, California Gift Show®
Manager. “This show has a reputation for being fashionforward,
fun and committed to the fundamentals of
good business practices: namely, building relationships
and sharing best practices that grows everyone’s business.”
They say the bluest skies you have ever seen are in
Seattle. And from January 24-27, so are the greenest educational
sessions, most innovative new products and
invaluable networking opportunities when the semiannual
Seattle Gift Show comes to the Washington State
Convention & Trade Center.
“Through its collaboration with the permanent showrooms
of the Pacific Market Center, the Seattle Gift Show
presents an unprecedented seven full days of buying
opportunities featuring the freshest gifts, home and
lifestyle products,” says Jenay Root, Manager of the
Seattle Gift Show. “These two world-class, easy-to-shop
venues represent the largest market in the Pacific
Northwest, providing retailers with access to over 10,000
national and innovative lines of product, exciting new
vendors and an industry-recognized educational forum.”
This year’s schedule includes a green panel moderated
by Richard Bloom of Bloom Enterprises and featuring
several key retailers and manufacturers.
Toy Industry Association
Throughout 2009, the Toy Industry Association will be
hosting pavilions in a number of international trade
shows focused on the toy
and youth entertainment
industry. In some cases,
the association will be
returning to locations
where it has participated
in the past, and in other
cases, will be joining in for
the first time.
The first quarter offers
some exciting opportunities
in expanding marketplaces.
The association will have a
presence at Toy Russia,
March 11-14, 2009, in
Moscow, and at the Middle
East Toy Fair, March 23-25,
2009, in Dubai.
