Remembering Tony DeMasi

he gift industry lost Souvenirs, Gifts & Novelties magazine Editor Tony DeMasi October 23, 2008. DeMasi was recognized with a special tribute article in SGN’s November/December 2008 issue. Here is an additional impression of DeMasi from reader Shirley George Frazier:

The Industry Loses Patricia Francis (Patty) Campbell Schafer

atricia Francis (Patty) Campbell Schafer, of Dillon County, S.C., who had been part owner of South of the Border, died January 5, 2009.

Born September 14, 1941 in Dillon, she was employed by Schafer Distributing and later South of the Border, where she subsequently became part owner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan H. Schafer and her father, Robert C. Campbell.

Campbell Schafer’s lifelong philanthropic efforts benefited many Dillon County charities and local churches.

She is survived by her mother, three sisters, a brother, five nephews and three nieces.

Texas Retailer Bob Clark Remembered as an Advocate for Worthy Causes

ort Aransas, Texas, businessman and contributor to the community, Robert E. “Bob” Clark III, 64, died unexpectedly late last year.

Clark and his wife, Sandy, supported many civic projects and charitable organizations in Port Aransas.

Clark, who was born in Pennsylvania, worked for a time as a souvenir salesman, and opened his first store, Sandy’s Shirt Shack, in Port Aransas in 1972. The Clarks’ opened a vast array of shops in the subsequent years.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Clark is survived by three children and three grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Port Aransas Boy Scouts, c/o George Horner, American Bank, 216 S. Alister Street, Port Aransas, TX 78373.
