Andrews McMeel Publishing’s Jan Girando to Retire

McMeel Publishing’s (AMP) Product
development Group (PdG), was set to
retire at the end of April, announced John P.
McMeel, chairman, and Hugh T. Andrews,
president and chief executive officer of AMP.
PDG conceives, writes, and designs social
expression products based on significant and
emerging market trends. It is a division of
AMP, a leading publisher of gift, humor, general
trade and cookbooks, publishing more than 300 new
titles annually, as well as calendars and greeting
cards. Since joining the company as creative
director in 1988 and serving as vice president
since 1991, Girando has been instrumental
in the success and growth of PdG.
“For more than 40 years in the industry
and two decades at AMP, Jan has brought her
energy and expertise to product lines that
reflect the icons of popular culture of the
day,” said McMeel. “She has led the formation,
development and implementation of
some of the hottest licenses available into
best-selling lines of greeting cards and other
products.”
