CAMEX 2010 Debuts Exciting New Format

By revising its schedule, CAMEX, the largest annual trade show and educational event in the collegiate retailing industry, is seeking to help attendees and exhibitors save travel expenses and time.

Sponsored by the industry’s leading trade association, the National Association of College Stores (NACS), the now four-day event will take place in Orlando, Fla., March 12-15 at the Orange County Convention Center. With the elimination of one day, attendees are estimated to save about $250 on travel expenses and get back to their stores sooner.

Additionally, the CAMEX Online Conference, new to this year’s event, gives attendees the opportunity to extend and reinforce information from on-site education sessions. Nick Bilton, author of “Byte. Snack. Meal. The New Business of Storytelling” and the online catalyst presenter, will discuss how the changing nature of the media impacts college stores. Eight other sessions are already planned and more are being developed that offer a variety of collaboration, communication and learning tools entirely via the internet.

The annual conference of the Campus Computer Resellers Alliance, a NACS special interest group representing technology resellers in higher education, will also be wrapped into the CAMEX weekend to provide additional one-stop shopping.

Also unique to CAMEX 2010 is a Disney Institute Session during which attendees will learn about Disney’s approach to quality service. For more information and details about the event, visit the show online.

OASIS Continues to Bring Great Changes

The Organization of Associated Salespeople in the Southwest, Inc. (OASIS) is a gift trade association that represents the manufacturing, sales and distribution side of the giftware industry. From the first 12-booth trade show in 1976, OASIS has grown to national prominence. Today, the OASIS Gift Show boasts over 600 booths, representing thousands of spectacular product lines, and attracting from 6,000 - 8,000 buyers annually.

OASIS recently announced they were “growing and going” on the road for a new expansion show at the Albuquerque Convention Center April 16-17, 2010, in an effort to increase market reach and allow more convenient options for buyers.

“We have opted to ‘bring our shows to the buyers’ to allow them more options and decrease their overhead,” said Kevin Thomas of OASIS. This April’s show is already sold out with over 260 booths and there are plans for expanding next year.

OASIS is also proudly announcing a return to downtown Phoenix for their Arizona shows. The Phoenix Convention Center has completed their multi-million dollar renovations and the convenient light rail transportation and the vibrant downtown setting makes it a superb location for these bi-annual shows. The unique University of Phoenix Stadium has provided an excellent option for OASIS during this transition period and will be host to their final OASIS show July 22-24, 2010.

OASIS is one of the few shows driven and directed by the exhibitors themselves and brings success, opportunity and convenience to buyers and exhibitors alike. Each show features an expansive product selection on the main floor, the jury-chosen Artisans’ Showcase, and the Gifts 2 Go cash and carry area. OASIS exhibitors offer trend-setting general merchandise, jewelry, world imports, home décor, Native American art and crafts, western flair and southwestern gifts.

OASIS is dedicated to providing a successful and enjoyable wholesale gift marketplace. The show is open to the retail trade only and features free registration, plenty of free parking and buyer incentives such as free gifts, coupons for free food and beverage and even free cash. Please visit the show online for more information or to register. Show management looks forward to seeing attendees in New Mexico, Arizona or both. Show layout and parking fees differ slightly for the Albuquerque show, see the website for more information.
