Abbey Press Moves into Permanent Showroom in Atlanta
Abbey Press, a wholesale marketer of inspirational and religious goods, has moved into a permanent showroom in Atlanta’s AmericasMart. The company is leasing space in Building 2, showroom 1340, from Divinity Boutique, and was open for business in time for the July International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. Selling inspirational giftware, kitchenware, books, greeting cards, stationery and wrapping paper, Abbey Press has exhibited in the Temporaries at AmericasMart for more than 20 years.
Said Sue Kloeck, director of trade marketing, “having a permanent showroom on a high-traffic floor will provide a better environment to strengthen relationships with our regular accounts, to more actively partner with national and international key accounts, and to explore partnerships with new companies.”
The Asia America Trade Show

Two NY Now Programs Highlight Eco-Friendly Products
“Degrees of SustainAbility” Designees Announced
Eco-Choice Awards Voting Opened 7/15
New developments have been announced in two “green” initiatives produced by NY NOW®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®) to recognize exemplary eco-friendly and socially-responsible products. Six products in the summer 2013 SustainAbility: design for a better world® exhibit have achieved NY NOW’s highest “Degrees of SustainAbility” status. Additionally, online balloting, with 30 products vying for top honors in three categories, opened on July 15 for the semi-annual Eco Choice Awards.
“These programs support the main goal of NY NOW’s overall SustainAbility initiative, which is to promote and build awareness of sustainable, earth-friendly home and lifestyle resources,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president. “While we’ve set specific criteria required to achieve ’Degrees of SustainAbility’ status, the Eco Choice awards are determined by opinions and preferences of the industry-at-large.”
From 120 products accepted for the winter 2013 SustainAbility: design for a better world, exhibit, just six have been designated as achieving NY NOW’s SustainAbility3, the top-ranking level for eco-friendly and socially-responsible products, production processes and business practices.
Winners were to be announced at NY NOW, which was scheduled to run August 17, through Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in New York City.

Other Emerald Expositions Sports & Retail events include Outdoor Retailer, ASD, Imprinted Sportswear Shows and Interbike. This crossover allows Emerald customers to benefit from the synergies between the retail, sports, general merchandise and sports licensing and tailgate events.
The 2014 Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show will include more than 400 exhibitors that represent the major leagues, collegiate teams and other sports. Every possible product category will be represented, from apparel to housewares to pet products.
The show draws more than 5,000 attendees from sporting goods retailers, mass market retailers, general merchandise retailers, specialty retailers, fan shops and concessionaires seeking new products and trends to take back to their stores.
“The 2014 show will be an all new experience for both exhibitors and attendees,” said Show Director Liz Crawford. “We are expanding our marketing reach to bring in a broader range of licensees, as well as more qualified retailers. We are also planning a new conference program, networking events and more opportunities to showcase new products and bring exhibitors and buyers together.”

The 67th annual National Stationery Show® (NSS) proved to be a pivotal year for the nation’s leading social stationery and related lifestyle gift market, experiencing a 31 percent increase in attending stores for the May event, held at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The return of market features such as the NSS party and LIVE! demonstration theatre, combined with an aggressive VIP attendee outreach program and launch of Creative & Lifestyle Arts (C&LA), garnered the attention of thousands of new and former attendees.
“Attendees and exhibitors witnessed the first phase of a refreshed NSS, with many new experiential introductions to create an exciting, productive atmosphere,” said Patti Stracher, GLM vice president and NSS show director. “In addition to the many new products rolling out and hundreds of new companies debuting, the launch of C&LA and addition of spaces on the show floor for networking and community building generated great buzz. While we recognize that retailers are sending fewer buyers to cover shows, we welcomed their return and were thrilled with the substantial increase in the number of attending stores.”

Urban Expositions has acquired the international Sculpture Objects, Functional Art + Design Fair (SOFA) from The Art Fair Company. Celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year, SOFA is the largest and longest continually running art fair in Chicago.
Urban Expositions plans to build a division specializing in art fairs and SOFA is their first such acquisition.
