-Travel Assistance Program Offered for All Retailers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama-

October 13, 2005

allas Market Center, the world's largest wholesale merchandise resource, today announced the launch of Operation Re-Store, a retailer relief effort for specialty stores in the three states directly impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Beginning immediately, all retailers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will be offered a special travel relief package to help them attend trade events at Dallas Market Center.

"All retailers in the region were impacted by the hurricane-directly or indirectly," said Bill Winsor, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. "Therefore our continuing message to every single specialty store is that we care, and we want to help rebuild your businesses when you are ready."

Because of the wide-ranging impact of the storm and the various needs of the retailers in the region, Dallas Market Center has established a flexible program to accommodate all retailers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with travel assistance.

Retailers are encouraged to contact MarketTravelTM at 1-800-325-6587 for more information.

Additional Hurricane Relief efforts will continue at Dallas Market Center, including the following:

  • A merchandise drive in the Hall of Nations of the World Trade Center is aimed to deliver immediate relief. Donations of water, clothing and essentials have been very generous. Several manufacturers have made a special effort to supply large volume shipments. All merchandise is being delivered to The Salvation Army.
  • Cash donations to the American Red Cross will continue to be accepted at the reception desk in the World Trade Center and at registration desks during trade events.

Upcoming trade events at Dallas Market Center include the October Apparel Market, taking place October 27-30 and January Super Market, taking place January 18-25. Additionally, First Monday and Tuesday Mini-Markets are offered October 2-3, November 6-7, and December 4-5.
